OUR SOLUTION SET
Marlinks continuously monitors your offshore power cables: our advanced software application
focusses on the burial depth of the cables.

DOB Software
Our Depth of Burial software (DOB) continuously calculates the burial depth of your export and inter-array cables. Marlinks’ DOB monitors the ampacity of the cable, the distributed temperature measurement, and even takes into account the different types of soil the cable is passing through. As cautionary outcome, we provide you with an overview of the burial depth of the entire cable, adjustable alarms and trend analysis. This intelligence can be integrated in your scada system or is accessible via a stand-alone software application. test

Continuous Risk Assessment
The Carbon Trust CBRA Methodology (CTC835) determines the methodology for cable risk assessment. Three parameters are usually taken into account: fishing activities, ship anchoring and burial depth. These conditions are often considered to be constant, but particularly burial depth can change significantly because of seabed mobility. However, the Marlinks software automatically updates its risk assessment on burial depth, based on real time dynamic information. In addition, our module allows you to update the fishing or anchoring information manually and you can run different scenario’s, generating comprehensive intelligence on your total cable risk.

Seabed Mobility Studies
Based on experience from our previous projects, as well as cable readings with our burial depth software and/or our survey results, we can monitor sediment behavior and seabed mobility for your assets. The variables we use for our modelling are numerical or analytical, and take into account soil properties and hydrodynamic changes. The outcome of these models is then used to predict morphological processes.

Thermal Modelling
Based on the data we get from the Marlinks burial depth model, we achieve an extensive understanding of the thermal conduct of the soil encapsulating a cable. With this knowledge, we predict the heat trajectory from cable to seawater, including conductive or convective behavior. Our models are based on different soil parameters, such as grain size, porosity and burial depth. Our evidence- and intel-based approach allows us to assist you in designing the most performant cable route. At the same time we guarantee the cable cannot get overheated or meets requirements like the 2K-criteria in Germany. Marlinks also assists you with lab testing to validate the modelling results.
