Ampacimon and Marlinks sign MoU to enhance cable monitoring services.
Marlinks and Ampacimon signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), bringing together their expertise in cable, power line and substation monitoring. Ampacimon will concentrate on dynamic line rating for overhead lines, while Marlinks will focus on buried cables.
Monitoring is essential for promptly addressing and preventing grid outages caused by power line or cable failures. It also enables timely maintenance actions. Accurate grid capacity information supports secure and optimized grid operation, maximizing the delivery of cost-effective energy from renewable sources.
Tech company Ampacimon is specialized in intelligent power grid monitoring for onshore systems across 30+ countries. With the BlueBox Partial Discharge technology, it is possible to detect insulation defects in high-voltage cables, predicting breakdowns. Overhead conductors are monitored via Ampacimon Dynamic Rating (ADR) and GridVisor sensors, observing power line capacity, conductor health, and detecting anomalies (icing, galloping and electrical faults).
Marlinks focuses on condition-based monitoring for power cables, aiming to reduce failure rates in (subsea) transmission systems. Their service line includes monitoring Depth of Burial, RTTR through DTS, and a range of DAS monitoring services to ensure the integrity and reliability of critical power supply cables from offshore to onshore grids.
