Marlinks enters the German market with Arcadis Ost 1.

Marlinks is proud to announce that we won a contract for cable health monitoring for the Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm in Germany. Located in the Baltic Sea with challenging seabed conditions, including a swampy topsoil layer, the area poses risks like accelerated subsea cable embedment and overheating. With Real-Time Thermal Rating services, Arcadis Ost 1 gains high-precision monitoring of subsea cable conductor temperatures. This ensures prevention of overheating in both normal and peak situations.

About Arcadis Ost 1

Arcadis Ost 1 is a 257 MW offshore wind farm developed by Parkwind. The wind farm is located in the Baltic Sea, northeast of the island of Rügen, Germany. The project is committed to the highest standards and will be using construction methods for the installation of some of the world’s biggest wind turbines.

Marlinks ensures data quality for Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm

Marlinks installed and tested essential equipment in the substation during assembly on the yard before offshore shipment. The Marlinks dashboard enables operators to continuously monitor conductor core temperatures, triggering alerts for high temperatures. Periodically, we furnish the Arcadis Ost 1 team with actionable insights reports.

As a data service provider, Marlinks also recognizes the importance of precise calibration and hardware configuration. Taking full responsibility for hardware installation and testing ensures the quality of output data, tailored for effective modelling in the unique context of each new windfarm.

Mitigating risks in the Baltic Sea

In the Baltic Sea, the seabed structure is not solid, and there is minimal mobility in the seabed. Consequently, the top layer is mushy, posing a risk of the cable burying too deep and overheating. Therefore, Real-Time Thermal Rating (RTTR) is essential for this project.
